Agartala, 28th March 2025:   Chief Whip of the Tripura Legislative Assembly Kalyani Roy countered the statements made by Opposition Leader Jitendra Chaudhury. Roy dismissed Chaudhury’s claims as “untrue” asserting that she has been using the vehicle allocated for her role as Chief Whip.

“The vehicle allocated for Chief Whip is being used by Chief Whip only. She does not use any other car,” Roy clarified. She explained that following an accident involving her official vehicle at Baramura, she temporarily used a car previously assigned to then-Opposition Leader Animesh Debbarma. “At that time, Jitendra Chaudhury had not yet assumed the role of Opposition Leader,” she added. Roy emphasized that once Chaudhury became Opposition Leader and requested a vehicle, the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly provided one within 24 hours.

Roy also addressed allegations regarding financial benefits, stating, “Opposition Leader Chaudhury has been given the same entitlements as a cabinet minister.” She firmly denied any suggestion of illegal privileges, saying, “The Speaker does not give anything illegally to anyone. The Speaker ensures that everyone receives what they are owed.”

In response to Chaudhury’s accusations that the Speaker, Chief Whip and Leader of the House were attempting to undermine the Opposition Leader, Roy categorically rejected the claims. “These statements are baseless and untrue,” she concluded.
