Agartala, 9th April 2025:   A massive fire engulfed four shops in Kailashahar Bazaar early this morning, causing widespread disruption on the Kailashahar Girls School road. Eyewitnesses described the harrowing scene as flames quickly spread through Bobby Sen’s shop selling cold drinks, ice cream and electrical appliances, before devastating three neighboring establishments: a library, a medicine shop, and a cloth shop.

“Smoke was suddenly seen coming out of Bobby Sen’s shop, and within moments, the fire had spread in all directions,” recalled an eyewitness. The blaze prompted swift action, as two fire engines arrived on the scene and local residents joined efforts to extinguish the fire. Despite their hard work, the inferno gutted the four shops completely, leaving the shop owners devastated.

Firefighters believe the fire originated from a short circuit in one of the affected shops. “The fire was intense, but our team managed to prevent it from spreading further,” said a firefighter. The damage has been preliminarily estimated at around Rs 1 crore leaving affected traders in disbelief and despair.

Traffic on the road came to a standstill as authorities temporarily closed the area for safety. Shop owners, many of whom had invested their life savings into their businesses, are now struggling with the aftermath. “I don’t know how to start again after losing everything,” shared one shopkeeper in a state of shock.

This incident has raised concerns about fire safety measures and the need for increased vigilance in commercial establishments to prevent such tragedies in the future.
