Agartala, 9th April 2025: Members of the Amra Bangali Chhatra Samaj staged a deputation at the Shiksha Bhavan here today putting forth a 10-point charter of demands, which included the cancellation of the controversial Vidyajoti project. The organization expressed concerns over the project’s impact on students’ interests.
Speaking to reporters, Secretary Biplab Das highlighted critical issues plaguing educational institutions, including an acute shortage of teachers and escalating fees under the Vidyajoti initiative. Das alleged that schools are charging thousands of rupees in the name of higher education, leaving many families struggling to afford quality education.
“The state government is making arbitrary decisions in the field of education. As a result, middle-class families are bearing the brunt of these policies,” Das stated, pointing to a growing financial burden on families. He emphasized the society’s commitment to advocating for students’ rights and equitable access to education.
The Amra Bangali Chhatra Samaj’s 10-point demand serves as a rallying cry for transparency and reform within the education system, reflecting mounting concerns from various quarters of the community.
