TWJA extends support to journalist Fakhar Uddin affected by fire at Damcherra

Agartala, 9th April 2025:   A delegation from the Tripura Working Journalists Association (TWJA) visited the residence of journalist Fakhar Uddin, whose house was destroyed in a fire in Damcherra late Monday night. The team conducted a thorough inquiry into the incident and provided financial assistance to support the affected family.

According to Fakhar Uddin, the fire was deliberately ignited by pouring petrol at around 1:30 am, reducing the house and its contents to ashes. Upon receiving news of the tragedy, TWJA promptly reached out to the journalist. Delegates from the association’s state committee and North Tripura district committee visited the site and extended help to the victim.

In a show of solidarity, TWJA assured the journalist of continued support in overcoming the crisis. The organization also met with the Officer-in-Charge of Damcherra police station, urging swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice. They demanded strict punishment for the culprits following a comprehensive investigation.

Members of the delegation included Asim Das from TWJA’s state committee, Rupak Debnath, secretary of the Dharmanagar divisional committee and representatives Ayan Nag, Dipak Chakraborty and Debdyuti Chakraborty.
