ABRSM Tripura lodges protest against GDC, Longtharai Valley teacher assault incident

Agartala, 17th April 2025:   A delegation from the Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh, Tripura (Mahavidyalaya Shiksha), met with the Director of Higher Education yesterday and submitted a protest letter regarding the recent attack on a professor during office hours at Government Degree College, Longtharai Valley. The incident took place on April 11 last. In the letter, the organization strongly condemned the deplorable and unfortunate incident, which took place within the premises of an educational institution.

Such a public assault on a teacher within a government educational institution during office hours is not only deeply concerning but also causes significant psychological distress. Incidents of this nature create an environment of insecurity for the entire teaching community. In light of this, the organization submitted the letter to the Director of the Higher Education, demanding the immediate identification of the culprits and the implementation of measures to ensure that such inhumane acts do not recur in any educational institution within the state.

During the meeting, the Director of Higher Education expressed agreement with the delegation’s concerns and assured that a thorough investigation into the matter would be undertaken, along with appropriate steps to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The delegation for today’s meeting comprised of the Vice President of the organization Moushumi Goswami, Secretary Sanhita Dasgupta and Treasurer Tapanjyoti Malakar.
