Agartala, 19th April 2025:   Tensions ran high in Bishramganj’s Nonajala area this afternoon when authorities arrived to seize a house due to non-payment of a loan. The house belonging to Ismail Mia and Roop Mia became the center of conflict as members of the household confronted the administration.

Deputy Collector & Magistrate Sourdeep Debnath, accompanied by bank officials and police personnel visited the property in connection with an unpaid loan amounting to Rs 15 lakh taken from Ujjivan Small Finance Bank Limited in 2021. The loan had been used for acquiring five ‘Gondas’ of land.

Eyewitnesses reported that the administration encountered resistance from family members who attempted to thwart the seizure in various ways. Despite the backlash, officials managed to place a notice on the property, signaling the commencement of legal proceedings.

While details of the confrontation remain unclear, sources indicate that Ismail Mia and Roop Mia had allegedly provided “various excuses” over the years to delay repayment of the loan, further complicating the situation.
