Agartala, 20th April 2025: In a shocking incident that has sent ripples through the Simna Assembly constituency, two individuals — Gayatri Munda, a housewife from Abhiram Tila near Krishnapur Tea Garden, and Saju Santal, a young man from the tribal neighborhood near Sundar Tila School — were found hanging together early this morning. The bodies were discovered by local passersby, prompting immediate panic in the area.
Personnel from the Sundar Tila police outpost arrived at the scene shortly after being informed. An investigation is currently underway.
Gayatri Munda’s husband, Gopesh Munda, expressed deep shock over his wife’s death.
“We’ve been married for three years. We have a little daughter. There was no issue in our family. I don’t understand why this happened,” he said, adding that he had no knowledge of Saju Santal or any connection between him and his wife.
However, local residents claim that Gayatri and Saju were secretly in a romantic relationship.
According to circulating rumors, Gayatri reportedly left her home late last night on a bike, allegedly to meet Saju. It is believed that the tragic incident may have occurred shortly thereafter.
While the police have not confirmed the cause or nature of the deaths, speculation around a suspected suicide pact continues to grow.
