Agartala, 20th April 2025:  In a joint operation based on confidential intelligence inputs, three Bangladeshi nationals — including a woman — were apprehended at Agartala Railway Station on Saturday for allegedly entering India without valid documents.

The operation was carried out by personnel from the Agartala Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and the Intelligence Department.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Kamrun Nesa (23) of Dhaka, Md. Ismail Hossain (22) of Chittagong, and Mohammad Nur Hossain (25), also from Chittagong.

During initial interrogation, it was revealed that Kamrun Nesa intended to travel to Bengaluru via Kolkata, while the two men were reportedly heading to Chennai. Investigating agencies suspect that the trio may be linked to cross-border trafficking networks, operating as brokers or facilitators of illegal migration.

Officials believe they entered India through unfenced or vulnerable sections of the Indo-Bangladesh border and were planning to use the railway network to reach metropolitan cities.

Sources within the police said that sustained interrogation is ongoing at Agartala GRP Police Station. Investigators anticipate that the questioning may lead to further arrests and crucial information related to a larger network involved in human trafficking or illegal immigration.

A case has been registered, and the accused will be produced before a local court on Sunday.
