Four teachers for 11 students at Shib Thakur Para JB School

Date:

Agartala, 8th August 2026 : The much-publicized “education revolution” under the so-called “double-engine government” appears hollow when viewed against the grim reality at Shib Thakur Para JB School in Jampuijala subdivision. Despite repeated appeals, the school continues to languish in neglect, raising serious questions about the administration’s commitment to basic education.

The school suffers from a lack of adequate classrooms and boundary walls, leaving students exposed to unsafe conditions. Compounding the problem is the absence of a reliable supply of safe drinking water. Locals allege that despite repeatedly flagging these issues to the concerned department, no effective measures have been taken.

Ironically, while many schools across the state face acute teacher shortages, Shib Thakur Para JB School has four teachers for just eleven students. Residents blame the absence of a proper transfer policy for this imbalance, calling it a glaring example of mismanagement.

Parents and local residents have demanded immediate infrastructure improvements to ensure a safe and suitable learning environment. Teacher-in-charge Jitendra Debbarma confirmed that the problems have been reported to the District Education Officer but lamented that no solution has been forthcoming. Speaking on camera, he expressed helplessness over the situation.

The community’s frustration is mounting as authorities remain indifferent to persistent complaints. Locals insist that unless urgent steps are taken, the promise of an “education revolution” will remain nothing more than a slogan.
