The training aimed at strengthening the capabilities of local farmers through the adoption of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), sustainable farming techniques, value addition, and market diversification for enhanced income. A total of 50 farmers from across Jampuijala Block participated in the program, which included interactive sessions, demonstrations, and expert lectures.
Key topics covered during the training included Agar cultivation, apiculture (honey bee farming), mushroom farming, Makhna and lotus cultivation, coconut and Sapri banana farming, papaya (papiya) cultivation, preparation of homemade organic manure, pest and disease control techniques, and integrated fish culture. The training sessions were enriched by the presence of two eminent resource persons—Khokan Roy, Retired Deputy Director of Horticulture, Government of Tripura, and Dr. Kaushik Majumder, Scientist in Botany and part-time lecturer at Tripura University.
To ensure the long-term success of the initiative, four Farmers Producer Companies (FPOs) are actively supporting the participating farmers by aggregating their produce for bulk sales and improved market access.
