Crafts demonstration for Aatma Nirbhar Divyangjan held at TU

Agartala, November 13: Craft Demonstration Program was organized as a part of the two days North East Disability Summit-2022 along with Mega Health Check-up-cum-Blood Donation Camp in the Tripura University Campus on Sunday. In the Craft Demonstration Program, 15 handicraft stalls were demonstrated. Besides this, Punjab National Bank counter and SC Cell counter were also there for imparting necessary information to the visitors.

The main objective of the Crafts Demonstration Program was to pave the way for “Aatma Nirbhar Divyangjan”. Besides, the other objective was the demonstration and making of artifacts for promoting handicrafts among the common people. Through such program, general public could understand the complex skills, creativity and hardships, the craftsman goes through. Further, such program can build up relations with general public that in turn help in building the business relations.

The demonstration program has given the opportunity to experience the work of Shilpa Guru Awardee, National Level Awardees, State Level Awardees, along with other creative artisans. Moreover, the program created an opportunity for the Divyang brothers and sisters who have made a niche in handicraft sector. Santana Chakma, Social Welfare and Social Education minister praised the impactful intervention of Ministry of Handicraft and textile for creating employment opportunities in the rural areas.

Shantmanu, IAS, Development Commissioner (Handicraft), Ministry of Textile, Government of India,  Deepanshu Haldar, Deputy Director (NER Incharge), Handicraft and Smt. Rima Sonar, Assistant Director, Handicraft State Centre, Agartala coordinated the craft demonstration programme.

In the Mega Health check-up camp, specialists in Medicine, Pediatric, Surgery, Orthopedic, Dermatology, Gynecology, and Oncology were present from Indian Medical Association in which more than 200 people availed the facility. Dr. Damodar Chatterjee (President) and Dr. A. K. Chakma (Secretary) of IMA, Tripura Branch also actively participated in the camp.

The Blood Donation Camp was organized by Indian Red Cross Society and Tripura State Blood Transfusion Council. In the camp, many participants donated their blood for which certificates were distributed. Prof. G. P. Prasain, Vice-Chancellor, Tripura University felicitated all the specialist doctors and technicians, who contributed for the mega health check-up and thanked Healthy India Chronicle represented by convener Amitav Joyprakash Choudhury for the successful conduct of NED Summit. Doctors, Nurses, Students of Department of Pharmacy, Staffs and Faculty members, Dr. Samrat Goswami; Dr. Thiru Selvan; Prof. Sabyasachi Dasgupta, coordinated the various events of the summit.
