Shubham Nama secures third place at Indian Student Parliament, earns national recognition

Agartala, 20th May 2025:  Shubham Nama, a young scholar from Melaghar in Sonamura sub-division has achieved a remarkable feat by securing third place at the 14th Indian Student Parliament held in Pune, Maharashtra. The prestigious event was organized by the MIT School of Government, took place from February 8 to 10, drawing student leaders from across the country.

A BTech graduate in Rubber Technology, Shubham had previously applied to participate in the 2023-24 edition of the event but was not selected. Determined to make his mark, he reapplied in 2025 and successfully earned his place in the university-level competition. His entry was approved after a virtual two-way discussion on his chosen topic—Ideology and Education System in Indian Politics.

Following a rigorous three-minute virtual deliberation, he was invited to Pune, where he engaged in discussions alongside representatives from various states. Demonstrating exceptional insight and eloquence, Shubham secured third place, bringing immense pride to his home state. As part of the event, participants were later given the opportunity to engage in discussions in front of members of parliament, further enriching their experience.

Adding to his accolades, Shubham announced that he will soon receive the prestigious President’s Award in recognition of his outstanding achievement. His success has been widely celebrated, with social worker and BJP Mandal President of 22-Sonamura assembly constituency Shubhrajit Das extending his heartfelt congratulations.

Das felicitated Shubham with a souvenir and a letter, wishing him a bright future and expressing optimism that talented youths like him will play a significant role in shaping India’s political landscape in the years to come.
