Complex Surgery takes place at ILS Hospitals, Agartala

Agartala, November 17, 2022: A young 14 years old girl came to OPD of ILS Hospitals and consulted Dr Vikas Kohli, Consultant Gastroenterologist with complaints of pain in abdomen.

After examination, patient was diagnosed with tumor of pancreas in head portion. Patient underwent Whipple’s surgery in total laparoscopic method by Dr. Amit Kumar Singh, Consultant Advance Laparoscopic, GI & General Surgeon on November 06 last.

Anesthesia for such high end complex surgery for a 14 year old patient was given by senior Anaesthetist Dr Sadu Aung Mog. After surgery, patient was shifted to Surgical ICU for supervision under highly skilled critical care team of doctors and nurses. Later patient was shifted to ward and now the patient is being discharged in a healthy status.

A Whipple surgery is the most complex surgery on human body. This operation is to remove the head of the pancreas, the first part of the small intestine (duodenum), the gallbladder and the bile duct. The Whipple procedure is used to treat tumours and other disorders of the pancreas, intestine and bile duct. It takes around 5 to 7 hours to perform. Whipple’s surgery in Laparoscopic method ensures minimal blood loss, quicker recovery and a NO Scar surgery.
