Minister Sudhangshu chairs meeting, review department’s future plan

Agartala, 21st May 2025 :   A crucial review meeting was held today at the Unakoti District Circuit House to assess the progress and future action plans of the Animal Resource Development Department, Scheduled Caste Welfare, and Fisheries Departments.

The meeting was chaired by Sudhangshu Das, Minister of Animal Resources, Fisheries, and Scheduled Caste Welfare, and was attended by top district administrators, departmental officials, and public representatives.

Despite adverse weather conditions, the presence of officials at all levels made the meeting effective and fruitful. Speaking to reporters, Minister Sudhangshu Das said, “This review meeting was called to assess how much progress has been made during the financial year 2025–26 across these three departments, and to outline the roadmap ahead. We are moving forward with a mission-mode approach.”

He further stated, “Balancing the supply and demand of fish and meat is vital, and since this is an agrarian district, these departments play a crucial role in its economic development. Keeping that in mind, we are planning together strategically.”

Regarding the Scheduled Caste Welfare Department, the minister added, “We are paying special attention to ensuring that students from SC families receive scholarships without any procedural difficulties. Clear instructions have been given for accurate beneficiary lists and timely disbursement of funds.”

The meeting concluded with directives issued to officials of the concerned departments to ensure timely execution of upcoming projects. Overall, the session emphasized making the departments more organized and effective for the socio-economic development of the district.

Notable attendees included District Council President Amalendu Das, District Magistrate and Collector Dilip Kumar Chakma, Director of Scheduled Caste Welfare Jayanta Dey, Director of Animal Resource Development and Fisheries Niraj Kumar Chauhan, Kailashahar Sub-Divisional Magistrate Pradeep Sarkar, Kumarghat Sub-Divisional Magistrate N.S. Chakma, Assistant Council President Santosh Dhar, Kailashahar Municipal Chairperson Chapala Debroy, Panchayat Samiti Vice Chairman Md. Badruzzaman, and other block development officers.
