Agartala, 24th May 2025:  After an eight-year hiatus, the conference of REGA workers from Khowai district convened at the Kalyanpur Block Conference Hall today. The event was inaugurated by Chief Convenor of the Tripura Legislative Assembly Kalyani Roy alongside Kalyanpur MLA Pinaki Das, the Chairman of the Panchayat Samiti and other organizational leaders.

During the discussions, leaders acknowledged that the last such conference was held in 2017. They stressed the need to unite REGA employees under one collective framework and work toward strengthening their representation.

An eight-point demand document was formally submitted to Kalyani Roy, who, during her remarks criticized the previous administration’s handling of REGA affairs. Recognizing the legitimacy of several demands—especially the regularization of REGA employees—she assured attendees that she would escalate the matter to the Chief Minister.

In a significant development, a 25-member district committee was formed to represent REGA workers and advance discussions on employment regularization and other pending concerns.
