Belonia police arrest 21 Bangladeshi nationals for illegal entry; Human trafficker detained

Agartala, 26th May 2025:   Belonia police have arrested 21 Bangladeshi nationals over the past month for illegal entry into India through the Belonia-Amjad Nagar border. Upon interrogation, authorities found that some individuals from Amjad Nagar facilitated their passage in exchange for money.

Among those implicated, Nasir Uddin, a 25-year-old resident of Amjad Nagar was arrested yesterday night by Belonia police on charges of human trafficking. He was taken into custody based on information provided by the arrested Bangladeshi nationals.

Today at 2:30 p.m., authorities produced Nasir Uddin before the Belonia court seeking a five-day police remand. He has been booked under sections 61(2)/143(3) of the Passport Act in accordance with the Indian Penal Code.

Police investigations continue as authorities aim to dismantle human trafficking networks in the region.
