Agartala, 31st May 2025:   In a major breakthrough, the North District Police yesterday night arrested notorious robber Nazim Uddin (29), the alleged mastermind behind several robbery groups that have been spreading terror across Tripura and Assam for nearly a year. He is the father of the deceased Kuti Chand Mia, known locally as a key operator in organized theft and robbery networks.

The arrest took place around 9:30 PM in the Nadiapur ST Para area under the Churaibari Police Station. According to police sources, multiple cases of theft and robbery have been registered against Nazim Uddin in various police stations across both states. Several warrants were pending against him, making his capture a high-priority mission.

The high-risk operation was led by North District Additional Superintendent of Police Jeremiah Darlong, who mobilized a large contingent of police personnel and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) jawans. Acting on a specific tip-off about the suspect’s location, the team launched a swift and strategic operation, ultimately succeeding in nabbing the accused after considerable effort.

Following the arrest, Nazim Uddin is currently being held at Churaibari Police Station, where intensive interrogation is underway. He is expected to be produced before the Dharmanagar District Court on Saturday, where the police will seek his remand for further investigation.

Soon after the arrest, North District Superintendent of Police IPS Avinash Rai and Sub-Divisional Police Officer B. Jerinpui rushed to Churaibari Police Station to assess the situation.

The arrest has sparked a wave of relief among residents of the North District, who have long lived under the shadow of fear due to Nazim Uddin’s alleged criminal activities. Locals are now hopeful that peace and order will be restored in the region.
