Two Youths from Tripura Missing in Sikkim SUV Tragedy

Agartala, 31st May 2025:  Two young men from the Kailashahar subdivision in Tripura’s Unakoti district are feared missing following a tourist SUV accident in Sikkim.

According to a Tripura government official, who requested anonymity, a passenger SUV plunged into the Teesta River in Sikkim, with several people on board.Among the missing are Swapnanil Deb (26) and Debajyoti Deb (25), both residents of Kailashahar.

“We have received information that two youths from Kailashahar, who had travelled to Sikkim, may have been in the bus that fell into the Teesta River. However, there is no official confirmation yet, as rescue operations are still ongoing,” the official said.The official added that the Tripura government is in constant touch with their counterparts in Sikkim, as well as with the families of the missing youths.
