Agartala, 2nd June 2025: In a shocking incident, a father and son were brutally attacked and robbed of Rs 11.5 lakh in cash on Monday afternoon while returning home after selling land.

The victims, Harej Mia and his son Sagar Mia, residents of the Fultali area in Motinagar, had travelled to Nabinagar in Bishalgarh to finalise the land deal.

According to police sources, the duo was ambushed near the Bhuiya Matar forest area, adjacent to the road head under the jurisdiction of Bishalgarh Police Station. As they were heading home with the proceeds from the sale—money intended to fund Sagar Mia’s move abroad—a group of unidentified miscreants emerged from the forest, launched a violent attack, and stabbed both of them before fleeing with the cash.

Local passersby and neighbors heard the victims’ cries for help and rushed to the scene. On finding the father and son grievously injured, they immediately informed the Bishalgarh Police Station. Officer-in-Charge Sanjit Sen, along with a police team, arrived at the location and arranged for medical assistance.

Police have begun a probe based on the statement provided by Harej Mia. While the identities of the assailants remain unknown, the police are working to trace the culprits and recover the stolen amount.

The incident has triggered fear and outrage in the area, raising serious concerns about the safety of residents commuting with large sums of cash. Locals now await swift action from law enforcement and hope for the arrest of those behind the attack.
