Agartala, 3rd June 2025:  Tripura’s Lok Sabha MP and former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Tuesday strongly criticized the CPIM, accusing the party of supporting banned Naxal groups and advising them to “shut their offices and go to China.”

Speaking during a visit to flood-affected relief camps in Agartala, Deb stated, “Naxals are a banned organization and have no place in a democracy. Yet CPIM chooses to speak in their support. If they have any dignity left, they should shut their party offices and settle in China. There is no room for them in Tripura.”

While distributing food and essential items to families displaced by flooding, Deb also addressed the government’s ongoing response to the disaster. “The state government is focused on ensuring cleanliness and hygiene as the floodwaters recede. Contaminated water can lead to viral infections, bacterial outbreaks, and other diseases, so immediate sanitation is critical,” he said.

He noted that flooding has become a recurring issue, particularly due to the Howrah River overflowing during heavy monsoon rains. “We are working diligently to enhance drainage and sewerage systems in low-lying areas of Agartala,” Deb added, emphasizing that the administration is committed to long-term solutions. As floodwaters began to subside, displaced residents have started returning to their homes. “Many of them are daily wage earners, and we want to make sure they have at least three days’ worth of essential supplies to tide them over,” he said. Deb also highlighted the collaborative relief efforts being undertaken by the state government, the Ramakrishna Mission, various social organizations, and public representatives.
