Agartala, 3rd June 2025:  : Tripura is gearing up to celebrate the revered and century-old Kharchi Puja, scheduled to begin on July 3 at the Chaturdasa Devata Temple in Khayerpur, under the Old Agartala block. With just a month to go, extensive preparations are underway to ensure the week-long festival is conducted smoothly.

A high-level preparatory meeting was held today at the Conference Hall of the West Tripura District Magistrate’s office. The session was chaired by MLA Ratan Chakraborty, who underscored the festival’s deep cultural and spiritual significance.

“Kharchi is more than a religious occasion—it’s a reflection of Tripura’s heritage and identity,” said MLA Chakraborty. “It brings people together from every corner of the state and beyond. Let’s unite to make this celebration memorable.”

He called upon all government departments, civic bodies, and citizens to work together for the grand success of the event.

Additional District Magistrate Sajal Biswas presented key action plans to enhance infrastructure around the temple area. He highlighted steps such as strengthening lighting arrangements, ensuring clean drinking water, setting up health camps, and organizing proper parking facilities to handle the large footfall, particularly during evenings.

To enhance the public experience, several government departments will set up exhibition stalls highlighting welfare schemes and development initiatives. These stalls aim to inform and empower visitors through awareness and engagement.

Moreover, the Information and Cultural Affairs Department will host cultural evenings daily, showcasing performances by renowned artists from across Tripura, adding a vibrant artistic touch to the devotional atmosphere.

With collective effort and enthusiasm, this year’s Kharchi Festival promises to be a true celebration of faith, tradition, and community spirit.
