Agartala, 5th June 2025 : Marking the occasion of World Environment Day, Tripura Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma on Thursday called upon citizens to actively participate in environmental conservation and adopt sustainable practices to protect nature.
“On this World Environment Day, I extend my greetings to all. This day serves as an important opportunity to raise awareness about the need for environmental protection. If we fail to keep our surroundings clean, green, and healthy, it will directly impact human civilization,” said Debbarma.
Emphasizing the importance of forest conservation, the Minister urged people to plant more trees and reduce the use of plastic and other non-eco-friendly materials. He stressed that safeguarding the environment is not solely the government’s responsibility but a collective duty.
“If we want a healthy Tripura, we must protect our forests and focus on conserving catchment areas. Neglecting these regions leads to frequent flooding. Everyone must contribute to building a greener and cleaner state,” he added. Debbarma concluded by encouraging people to take a pledge on this occasion — to plant trees, minimize plastic use, and work together to preserve Tripura’s natural beauty.
World Environment Day is observed annually on June 5 to promote global awareness and action for the protection of the environment. To mark the day, the Tripura Pollution Control Board organized a program that included an awareness rally, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and members of the public.
