40 kg IED recovered by Hazaribagh police

Police have recovered an IED weighing about 40 kilograms from a forest located under Aango Police Station area of this district, an officer said on Monday..

Hazaribagh SP Manoj Ratan Chouthe said that a tip-off had been received that explosive materials were kept hidden in a sack inside the Khutwar forest under Aango Police Station area.

Following the information, a joint team of Jharkhand Jaguar and CRPF’s 22nd battalion conducted search and combing operations during which the IED weighing 40 kilograms was recovered.

A team of bomb disposal squad later defused the bomb inside the forest itself. The SP said that the IED was kept hidden inside the forest to inflict damage on the security forces involved in anti-insurgency operations.
