“Bharat Jodo-Tripura Bachao” huge success, people unhappy with BJP rule: Sudip

Agartala Nov 29: Tripura Pradesh Congress on Tuesday informed that the party workers covered a total of 14,000 km under “Tripura Bachao-Bharat Jodo Yatra” across the state.

“Our target was 12,000 km but we have covered beyond goal with active participation of Pradesh Congress leaders and over 10,000 activists and supporters”, said lone Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman.The MLA was addressing a press conference at the Pradesh congress bhavan, Agartala in presence of AICC Secretary Szarita Laitphlang, former MLA Asish Kumar Saha and other Pradesh congress leadership.

Sudip Roy Barman said, “Public participated enthusiastically and we received massive response from them across the state”.“Bharat Jodo rally was conducted keeping Rahul Gandhi’s message to unite the nation breaking down religious barriers and divisive policies of the BJP. We voiced to awaken the people about problems of unemployment, hiked prices of essential commodities and many more important issues”, he said.

Barman further lashed out the BJP over fake promises made to the people prior and after elections.“BJP’s promises like IT Hub, 3 Tripura Bhavans in Rajasthan, Mumbai and Bangaluru, 2 AIIMS were made to the people of the state. Now public wants to know what is the status of these promises”, he said.Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman said as a “Constructive opposition” we want to raise these issues on behalf of the common people who are unable to reach the govt. and neither the govt. has enough time to hear to them.Barman added, lot of people especially the poor in the suburbs of the state have expressed frustration over discontinuation of Distance Education at Tripura University, Rs. 1000 payment at Vidyajyoti schools that has turned heavy on poor people.

Sudip further demanded compensation and rehabilitation for the shopkeepers of Battala whose shops were bulldozed by AMC.The Congress MLA also informed that at least 47 activists were attacked during the campaign.
