Agartala, 12th June 2025:   Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy presented a detailed report on public welfare-focused governance and achievements made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his 11 years rule, today via a press conference at Dharmanagar.

Highlighting the overall development of the country under the BJP party, he said that, during the previous (UPA) government’s tenure, India had 74 airports, but under the Modi’s govt, 86 new airports have been added. Plans are underway to launch more, including the rejuvenation of Kailashahar airport, which had been deserted for a long time.

In the healthcare sector, the BJP-led government, has managed to touch 100% of the state’s population. Across the country, 16,000 Jan Aushadhi (generic medicine) centers have opened, 23 in Tripura. Over the last 11 years, 2,046 hospitals have been built, including 942 Ayushman Bharat hospitals.

Roy noted the establishment of 490 universities, and in Tripura, with three private universities are in the under process of being set up. He also highlighted PM Modi’s vision of empowering 3 billion women as “Lakhpati Didis” through 90 lakh self-help groups—51,000 of which are in Tripura. SHG funding in the state jumped from 20 crore rupees (pre-2018) to 1,500 crore rupees under BJP rule.

Under the previous government, only 20 crore rupees had been allocated to SHGs in Tripura until 2018. But since the BJP came to power in 2018, this amount has risen to 1,500 crore rupees over seven years.

Tourism is being revitalized, including the historic Unakoti site. Under schemes like Jan Dhan Yojana (PM- JDY) and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), Tripura has seen major benefits, with over 5,68,582 lakh houses built.

He praised PM Modi’s focus on the Northeast, citing Tripura’s modern airport as proof. He contrasted this with the “Garibi Hatao” (Remove Poverty) slogans of past regimes, asserting that today’s government has taken real action to lift the poor.

The farmers now received direct income support, MSP for rice, and aids during natural calamities. Meanwhile women have received LPG connections through the Ujjwala Yojana (PMUJ), funds have been allocated for the training and employment of unemployed youth.

Minister Roy asserted that economically, India now ranks fourth in the world, over the past 11 years, Prime Minister Modi has elevated India’s status on the global stage—an achievement that will be recorded in golden letters. He called Modi’s contributions “historic,” adding that every initiative has aimed at inclusive, nationwide development. Roy concluded by expressing pride in being a part of the BJP’s journey.

Today’s press conference was attended by Panisagar MLA Binay Bhushan Das, Bagbassa MLA Yadav Lal Nath, and other district-level party leaders.
