Agartala, December 08, 2022: Claiming that the incidents of Human Rights violations in Tripura are very limited, Tripura Human Rights Commission Chairman former Justice Swapan Chandra Das said that the Commission has given appropriate directions for investigation in 90 out of 110 complaints till November this year.

In the press conference at Civil Secretariat here in Agartala city on Thursday noon, the THRC chairman former Justice Swapan Chandra Das said that if the human rights of a person are violated by any government employee or authority, the state human rights commission can give guidelines to the state government through investigation.

He further said that the common people of the state are not able to identify NGOs and State Human Rights Commission separately. Note that NGOs can help the Commission for the Protection of Human Rights. But no NGO is Human Rights Commission. Also private disputes are not under the jurisdiction of the Human Rights Commission.

It is worthy to mention here that the Tripura State Human Rights Commission was formed in 2016.

The press conference was attended by members of the commission, former district judge Subir Saha, former IPS officer BK Roy, secretary of the commission Dr PK Chakraborty.
