Agartala, December 13, 2022: The police personnel led by West Agartala Police station OC Jayanta Kumar Deb and Battala out post staff led by SI Tapan Das arrested a racket of five drug peddlers from Jawahar Bridge area on Tuesday.
Speaking to media personnel at the premises of West Agartala Police Station here, SDPO of Sadar sub-division Ajay Kumar Das said that the police station’s OC Jayanta Kumar Deb and Battala Out Post’s SI Tapan Das conducted an anti-drug operation under the Jawahar Bridge in between Nagarjala and Battala, and arrested five drug peddlers.
The police seized 8 grams of brown sugar worth Rs 25,000 from their possession along with some empty vials, he added.
SDPO said that the arrestees are- Sushanta Chakraborty alias Thakur of Fish market area in Amtali, Hamin miah of Rajnagar, Shibu Datta of Durga Chowmuhani, Prasenjit Datta of Jhulanta Bridge in Pratapgarh and Sandip Saha of Bardowali.
A case of NDPS Act 190 has been registered with West Agartala police station under sections 22(B), 27(A) and 29.The five arrestees have been produced in the court. After interrogating them, the suppliers’ names will be revealed, he also said.
