NFR arranges special trains for Kharchi Puja: Sushanta

Agartala, 3rd July 2025:  Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury today announced that the Northeast Frontier (NF) Railway has arranged one pair of special trains on the occasion of the traditional Kharchi Puja in between Dharmanagar and Agartala route.

The move is aimed at facilitating the smooth travel of pilgrims visiting the temple of the Fourteen Gods during the festival.

“On the occasion of the traditional Kharchi Puja, a festival of unity among nations, special trains have been arranged by NF Railways from Dharmanagar to Agartala to facilitate the pilgrims to and from the temple of the Fourteen Gods” , he said.

Expressing gratitude for the initiative, Chowdhury said, “I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister of Tripura, Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, and the Union Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, for their prompt response and support in making this arrangement possible.”

He added that the state government remains committed to upholding the cultural and spiritual traditions of Tripura, and the support from the Centre further strengthens the bond between the people and their heritage.

Kharchi Puja, one of the most significant indigenous festivals in Tripura, attracts thousands of devotees every year.
