Agartala: Septemebr 14. Hundreds of sacked 10, 323 teachers today gheraoed Shiksha Bhawan demanding notice of termination paper and threatened that if government failed to provide the termination paper then the sacked teachers will take the initiative to return to school.
However, due to police’s barricade the teachers couldn’t enter inside the Shiksha Bhawan.Later when a delegation went to meet the Director Chandni Chandran, she was not present. A six member delegation of the dismissed teachers sat in a meeting with three officials of the department. But the three officials could not give a satisfactory answer to the dismissed teachers in the meeting.
Finally, around 4:30 pm, the six-member delegation of dismissed teachers sat in the Director’s office and started protesting. They demanded that they would not leave the room without getting an answer. Later the police rushed the spot and drag them out of the room.Ajay Debbarma, who was present in the delegation, said that the director was not present in the meeting and she has assured us that she will give us reply on September 14. He said that the teachers didn’t receive any termination letter from the department. “No termination notices from High Court in 2019 and Supreme Court in 2020 was issued”, he said.
Later, an official of the department told the media that their memo was issued according to the Supreme Court’s RTI. “No termination will be given to them now because they have been given termination letter earlier”, the official said.
Later, dismissed teachers protested in the premises of the Shiksha Bhawan and siad their next course of action will be announced soon and claimed that their job has not gone and the correct answer will be given to the bureaucrats of the office in the coming days.
