Agartala: September 14. The students of Dhanbilash Higher Secondary School of Kailasahar Sub-division held a protest by blocking road due to lack of teachers. The students said that the school is running with only seven teachers. In the meantime, the headmaster Tarun Kanti Chakma was transferred elsewhere. Although the headmaster of the school, Tarun Kanti Chakma, was transferred to another place, no new headmaster was given to the school.
After the transfer order came out, students and parents of the school expressed their anger. Students took to the streets today morning. Their demand is that the blockade will continue until the transfer of the headmaster in the school is cancelled and adequate numbers of teachers are provided to the school.
When the parents approached MLA Sudhangsu Das about this, he said that the district education officer was informed in writing on September 9. But after almost 5 days have passed, as the department did not take any role, the parents along with the students locked the school this morning and demonstrated in the school.
The school was locked at 5:30 in the morning but no official of the department came to the school until 1PM. Road blockade continues till noon today. The students said that the school will not be unlocked if the demand is not met.
