11 Bangladeshi Nationals, Indian Tout Detained in Tripura

Agartala, 12th July 2024:  In two separate operations, the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Border Security Force (BSF) detained 11 Bangladeshi nationals and one Indian tout in Tripura.Late on Thursday night, the GRP arrested eight Bangladeshi nationals, including a minor boy, at the Agartala Railway Station. Officer-In-Charge of GRP, Tapas Das, informed that they had received a tip-off about the presence of Bangladeshi nationals at the station.

“Based on the inputs, we alerted our staff at the railway stations and identified individuals acting suspiciously. Upon detaining them and conducting a preliminary interrogation, they revealed that they were Bangladeshi nationals who had entered Tripura illegally,” Das stated.

The detainees, who were enroute to various destinations in India seeking work, were identified as Ibrahim Hossain (24) from Kalaroa District, Safikul Islam (32) from Satkhira District, Musamed Salina Begam (22) and her son Samim Reze (5), Md. Shimul Hossain (28), Nur Nahar Juma (23), Taslima Kanum (24), and Meenu Khatun (19).

Meanwhile, on July 11, the BSF detained three Bangladeshi nationals at Sabroom Railway Station in South District. During their preliminary interrogation, they identified an Indian tout, Thaikai Mog (26), who was also subsequently arrested by the BSF.
