Agartala, 9th August 2024: The Lawyer Development Forum has nominated 11 candidates for various positions for the ensuing High court Bar Association election. Among them, Senior Advocate Bival Nandi Majumdar is running for the position of President, while Tapas Kumar Deb is vying for the Vice President role. Advocate Shankar Lodh has been nominated as Secretary, and Asmita Banik as Assistant Secretary. Additionally, Advocate Rajib Saha will serve as Treasurer, and Advocates Draksha Tilak Pal, Anujit Dey, Dibyendu Sarkar, and Somyadeep are competing for Executive Member positions within the Lawyers Development Forum.
BJP state vice-president Subal Bhowmik addressed the media during a press conference held in room 16 of the West Tripura District Court. Bhowmik emphasized that if elected, the lawyer development platform’s candidates would focus on enhancing the legal community’s welfare. Despite regular elections, the status of bar associations remains largely unchanged. While the government expressed willingness to collaborate with bar associations, no significant initiatives have been observed from their side.
