Agartala, 21st May 2025 :  After more than a decade of legal battles, the rightful heirs of a disputed property have finally regained possession following a court verdict today. The property located on Post Office Road was originally owned by Dhrubakanti Gupta. His wife Milan Rani Debnath Gupta lived elsewhere for work. During this time, a woman named Niyati Das employed at Gupta’s residence allegedly forged ties with him. Reports from neighbors suggest that Gupta had married Das and subsequently, a will was created in her favor.

Following Gupta’s passing, Das utilized the will to claim ownership of the property, allegedly displacing the rightful heirs and selling the house to Shaktipada Chowdhury. The legal dispute that ensued lasted 13 years, with Gupta’s family fighting to reclaim their inheritance.

In a landmark ruling, the court recognized the legitimacy of the claims made by Gupta’s family and ordered the eviction of existing occupants. Today, authorities ensured the handover of the property to Milan Rani Debnath Gupta and her family.  The family’s lawyer emphasized the significance of the judgment, stating that it reinforced the importance of legal due process in property inheritance disputes.
