Agartala, 6th September 2026 : Police on Sunday seized 142 bottles of Fensedyl from the fuel tank of a luxury Maruti car in the Baijalbari police station area of Tripura. The driver of the vehicle was also arrested in connection with the alleged smuggling of the contraband.
Acting on a tip-off, Baijalbari police launched a special operation at Belfang naka following information that a large quantity of narcotic substances was being transported in a luxury Maruti car.The operation was conducted under the leadership of Baijalbari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Samaresh Chakma and Second Officer Tilak Jamatia. During the operation, police intercepted a Maruti car bearing registration number TR 01 CH 0592.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 142 bottles of Fensedyl, which had allegedly been concealed inside the fuel tank using a special technique.Police seized both the vehicle and the recovered Fensedyl and took the driver into custody. A case has been registered against the accused under relevant provisions of the narcotics law.
The accused driver is scheduled to be produced before the Khowai District and Sessions Court on Monday, police said.
