15 Bangladeshi, Rohingya detain in Agartala amidst tight security

Agartala: February 18. Amidst high security and sealed border for election, the Government Railway Police has detained 15 persons including two Bangladeshi nationals and 13 Rohingya from Agartala Railway Station who crossed international border and entered in the state from Bangladesh.

Speaking on the issues, one official from GRP said, “We had information that some Bangladeshi nationals and Rohingya entered in Tripura and for moving towards Kolkata they will come to Agartala railway station to board in Kanchanjunga Express. Based on the sources we have detained 16 persons including 2 Bangladeshi nationals, other are Rohingya and one middle man identified as Abhijit Deb who is an Indian citizen also detained for helping them to cross border”.

He said, “We have detained them and produced before the court. Three children are also there. We are interrogating them. 33 Bangladeshi and Rohingya we have detained in this month”.
