Agartala, 19th January 2025: Tripura government is gearing up for the upcoming visit of the 16th Finance Commission, scheduled to commence on January 29.
According to Akinchan Sarkar, Additional Secretary of the Finance Department, the Commission’s three-day visit will conclude on January 31, with their departure set for February 1. “Preparations are in full swing across all levels, with meetings being held in all districts to ensure smooth proceedings,” Sarkar stated.
The high-level delegation, led by Chairman Dr. Arvind Panagariya, will include members Ajay Narayan Jha, Annie George Mathew, Manoj Panda, Soumya Kanti Ghosh, and Secretary Ritvik Pandey. Their primary objective is to engage with the state government and senior officials to discuss Tripura’s financial needs and developmental plans.
The team is scheduled to meet with Tripura’s Finance Department on January 30. Following this, they are expected to visit key tourist attractions, including the Tripura Sundari Temple, Narkel Kunja, and Chabimura.
State government sources revealed that the Commission is also likely to hold discussions with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, representatives from the Agartala Municipal Corporation, and the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council.
