Agartala, 19th January 2025: A massive protest march was organized by the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and Tribal Youth Federation (TYF) in Sabroom, focusing on the state’s pressing issues of unemployment, law and order, and drug addiction.
The demonstrators, comprising youth and activists, marched through the streets to “awaken the government” and demand immediate action to address the worsening situation.
They raised slogans and held banners emphasizing their three main demands: employment opportunities for the youth, establishment of the rule of law, and stringent action against drug addiction and trafficking.
Addressing the protest, Nabarun Deb, the State Committee Secretary of DYFI, said, “The unemployment problem is increasing day by day during the BJP rule in Tripura. Jobs are not being obtained even through interviews. There is no rule of law in the state. Criminals are escaping punishment. The state is floating in a sea of drugs. That is why we have organized this program.”
The protesters alleged that since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government came to power, unemployment has surged alarmingly, leaving educated youth disillusioned. They accused the government of failing to create jobs and claimed that even recruitment processes through interviews are not yielding results.
On the issue of law and order, the marchers expressed concern over rising crimes and the lack of justice. They alleged that criminals are evading punishment, eroding public confidence in the legal system.
The protest also brought attention to the state’s growing addiction problem.
