Agartala, June 22, 2023: The people of the Gandacherra blocked two important roads of the subdivision at the same time on Thursday. One is in Narayanpur Mogpara Chowmuni area of Gandacherra-Raishyabari road of Sharma ADC village and the other is in Gaach Bagan area of Gandacherra-Amarpur road of Dhalajhari ADC village.
Residents of Mogpara complained that the road in their area is in a bad condition for many years. Now the monsoon season is going on and it is getting worse. Not suitable for walking. No type of vehicle wants to take the car to Mogpara area. So forced to walk home on foot. The government is not taking any initiative to rehabilitate the road even after complaining at various places for a long time. Therefore, the people of that area blocked the road on Gandacherra-Raishyabari main road at 6 AM on Thursday.
After receiving information about the incident, the officials of the PWD department and the leaders of the ruling party went to the blockade site and promised the blockaders that the road would be repaired. After receiving the promise, the blockaders lifted the road blockade at 12 noon.
On the other hand, those blocking the road in Gaach Bagan area of Gandacherra-Amarpur road complained that there is no drinking water and electricity in that area for many days. Despite the presence of DTW pump house, the residents of the area are quenching their thirst by drinking tap water without getting drinking water. Officials of the Power department and DWS department reached blockade site. DWS official said that DTW pump house is not functioning due to power problem. If this DTW pump house is operational then there will be no problem of drinking water in this area. DTW pump house is not running 3 phase power line type machine.
After this complaint, the official of the electricity department said that the electricity line will be provided today. During the road blockade, the work was started by the department. Then the road blockers lifted the road block.
The two main roads of the subdivision were blocked on Thursday, causing problems for the people of the area and outside the area.
