Agartala, 17th May 2025 : A 20-day Summer Theater Workshop organized by the National School of Drama commenced in Dharmanagar today. The inauguration ceremony took place at Bir Bikram Institution was graced by Dharmanagar Municipal Council Chairperson Mitali Rani Das Sen, along with theater personalities and educators, including Sumit Nath Chowdhury, Swarup Ghosh San and Mrinmayi Kanti Nath.
Kaustubh Chakraborty, the chief instructor of the workshop, shared details about the trainers leading the sessions. This year, instructors include Bharat Chutia from Assam, Pushpak Bhat from Maharashtra, Savitri B from Bhopal, Rakesh Naik from Rajasthan, and Ishita Sachdeva from Delhi. A total of 70 children, aged between 8 and 16, have enrolled in the training program, which will continue until June 6.
The workshop aims to impart theatrical education to young participants through practical training and performance-based learning. Two plays, developed by the children during the camp, will be showcased at the closing ceremony on June 7.
The State Theatre School has been conducting this summer workshop for several years, fostering a culture of drama and performance art among young aspirants. Guests expressed optimism about the initiative, highlighting Dharmanagar’s strong tradition in theater and its ongoing contribution to the performing arts.
