Agartala, 24th May 2024:   In a coordinated operation, the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) seized 22 kg of cannabis at Agartala Railway Station and arrested two youths from Bihar last night.

The operation was launched following a tip-off about an imminent drug transport. Reportedly, authorities received information that two individuals from outside the state would arrive at Agartala railway station with drug paraphernalia. Acting on this intelligence, a joint team from the GRP and RPF conducted a surveillance operation at the station.

During the operation, officers apprehended two suspects and conducted a search, which led to the discovery of 22 kg of ganja. The arrested individuals, identified as Purushattam Kumar (20) and Charan Kumar (21) from Bihar, were reportedly planning to transport the drugs from Agartala to Bihar.

The suspects were presented in court on Friday, with police seeking their remand for further investigation.
