Date:

BY TC News Desk

Agartala, 6th  February 2026 :   In a major step towards strengthening healthcare services in the state, 24-hour MRI scanning facilities will be introduced at AGMC & GBP Hospital from February 9, 2026. The decision was taken during a meeting of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti held on February 4, 2026, under a special initiative of the State Health and Family Welfare Department and with the proactive efforts of Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha.

According to an order signed by the Medical Superintendent of GBP Hospital, MRI services will now be available round the clock, seven days a week, including holidays. Previously, MRI scanning at the hospital was limited to operations up to 10:00 PM.

The introduction of 24-hour MRI services is aimed at reducing long waiting hours for patients and ensuring faster diagnostic support. This new arrangement is expected to greatly benefit patients coming from distant areas, making medical investigations more accessible and timely.

Meanwhile, considering the heavy patient load at the hospital and the pressure on the existing MRI machine, the Chief Minister has issued special instructions to further enhance facilities. To improve patient convenience, directions have been given to expedite the installation of an additional MRI machine in the hospital’s Super Specialty Building.

Once implemented, these measures are expected to significantly ease congestion and improve the overall quality of diagnostic services at GBP Hospital.
