Agartala, 3rd April 2024 : In a significant breakthrough, the Kumarghat police station successfully apprehended four drug dealers in the Bhati Dudhpur area, seizing a substantial quantity of heroin and recovering cash along with other incriminating evidence.
Acting on a tip-off, Tripura Police personnel swiftly moved in and apprehended the suspects, identified as Piklu Namashudra alias Suman, hailing from Kumarghat’s Anand Pally area, Supriya Deb from Saradapalli area of Kumarghat, Aleen Mohan Tripura , and Dharmendra Tripura from Birashi Mile area.
During the operation, three packets of heroin, with a total weight of 36.23 grams, were confiscated from the possession of the accused. Additionally, a significant amount of cash totaling Rs 15, 130, along with 1200 empty vials and five mobile phones, were recovered from two cars associated with the perpetrators. The seized vehicles bore the registration numbers TR O5 E 0769 and TR O4 A 3686.
Authorities estimate the market value of the seized heroin to exceed two lakh rupees, underscoring the gravity of the operation. The police have initiated legal proceedings against the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
