49th State Biju Mela and Utsav at Agartala from April 13 to 15

Agartala, March 21: The 49th state-level Biju Mela and Utsav-2023 will be held at Swami Vivekananda Maidan here on April 13, 14 and 15. A preparatory meeting was held today in the conference hall of the West Tripura District Magistrate’s office under the chairmanship of Industry and Commerce minister Santana Chakma to successfully hold this fair and festival.

Agartala Municipal Council Deputy Mayor Manika Das Datta, Biju Mela Development Society Chairman MLA Shambhulal Chakma, TTAADC MDC Bimal Chakma, Fire Service and Food department Secretary Tushar Kanti Chakma, West Tripura District Acting District Magistrate Tarit Kanti Chakma and state executive member of Tripura Rajya Chakma Samajik Parishad Debajan Chakma and distinguished officials of various departments.

In the meeting, minister Chakma said that the special feature and tradition of our state is the integration and development of the culture, culture of the small races and peoples of the state. Biju Utsav is one such traditional festival of the state. She called for the active help and cooperation of the officials to present this festival attractively and beautifully to all. She said, successful formulation of “Ek Tripura Shrestha Tripura” will take place, the development of every cultural culture of the state should be accelerated.

In order to make the three-day Biju fair and festival a success, a committee has been formed with Food minister Sushanta Chowdhury has been made the chairman, Youth Affairs and Sports minister Tinku Roy and Animal Resource Development minister Sudhangshu Das have been made vice-chairmen, AMC Mayor Dipak Majumdar has been made the convener and Deputy Mayor Monika Das Dutta has been made the joint convener.

Besides, a 15-member executive committee was formed with Industry and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma as the chairman and Public Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma as the vice chairman.

The three-day Biju Mela will open 30 stalls for cultural exhibitions of other castes and peoples along with the traditional exhibition stalls of the Chakma community. The fair premises will also have three cultural stages. Traditional cultural events, poet conferences, literary festivals and discussions will be organized daily on the stage, including the Chakma community.
