5 women, three men from West Bengal held in several thefts’ cases at Dharmanagar

Agartala, July 22, 2023: Women from outside the state have now become active in theft cases in the state. The people of Dharmanagar witnessed such incidents. Women stole gold ornaments from jewelery shops and looted them on Friday.

It is learned that three female customers went to Rajan Jewelers at Vivekananda Road in Dharmanagar on Saturday morning. Then they asked an employee of the jeweler to show them different types of bracelets. The bracelet looks accordingly. After seeing the bracelets, the women leave the shop saying they have no money. When they leave, the jewelers are all suspicious.

Then, after looking at the CCTV footage and their stock, it can be seen that two bracelets were stolen by three women. Later information was given to Dharmanagar police station. And after scouring the entire city, the three women could not be found. The police investigated the case and arrested 5 women and 3 men in the theft case. The police arrested them from Shakuntala Road in the capital Agartala.

Those arrested are Swapan Mandal, Chanchal Ghosh, Shafiqul Sahazil, Sundhan Das, Taapsee Das, Rosyka Das, Belu Das, Morjinav Bibi. All their homes are in West Bengal. Police have started questioning the accused. Police recovered two gold chains, 6 earrings, a baselet and cash of Rs 9,900 from them. A car from West Bengal was seized.
