50 grams of melted gold recovered in Chittaranjan theft case

Agartala, 1st September 2026 :  The East Agartala Police have made a significant breakthrough in the investigation into the Chittaranjan theft case with the recovery of approximately 50 grams of melted gold believed to be part of the stolen property.

According to police sources, three persons have so far been detained in connection with the case. Preliminary investigation, however, has indicated that several more individuals may have been involved in the theft. East Agartala Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Krishnadhan Sarkar said efforts are underway to identify and trace the other suspects.

Of the three detained persons, two have been sent to judicial custody, while another is currently in police remand and is being interrogated. Investigators are questioning the accused to determine where the remaining stolen valuables were concealed, identify other members of the alleged gang and establish the complete modus operandi of the theft.

The recovery of around 50 grams of melted gold has provided investigators with an important lead. Police are now intensifying efforts to recover the remaining stolen articles and gather further evidence in the case.

Officials said that detailed information is being withheld at this stage in order not to hamper the ongoing investigation. The police are continuing their search for other persons allegedly connected with the theft and are also examining the circumstances surrounding the disposal of the stolen gold.

Further arrests and recovery of additional stolen property are expected as the investigation progresses.
