Agartala Dec 16: Assistant High Commissioner Arif Mohammad along with several officials of the BAHC commenced the celebrations with hoisting the flag of People’s Republic of Bangladesh on Friday morning followed by offering floral tribute to the portrait on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibir Rahman and on the martyr ’s dais.
Speaking on the occasion, Assistant High Commissioner Arif Mohammad said, “Tripura played a remarkable role in the Liberation War of Bangladesh by providing shelter, medicine and all other necessary help to support the liberation war heroes and lakhs of refugees”.
Mohammad thanked the people of Tripura for its unparalleled contribution during the “Mukti Juddha” or Liberation War 1971.
Highlighting the memories of the war, Mohammad remembered the renowned fighters who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of Bangladesh. Tripura remembered the heroes on 1971 Bangladesh Liberation war on Friday on its 51st “Mhan Vijay Diwas” who laid down their lives to liberate East Pakistan from the clutches of Pakistani army with a series of program at the Assistant High Commission here in Agartala.
Besides, the words of Bangladesh Prime Minister, President, Foreign Affairs Minister and other were also read on the occasion.
