54-year-old man electrocuted, critically injured

Agartala, 8th April 2026:   A 54-year-old man named Kabir Islam was seriously injured after coming into contact with an 11,000-volt high-tension electric cable passing over his house in the Durlabh Narayan area under Sonamura subdivision. The incident has raised concerns over alleged negligence by the Power department. He is currently undergoing treatment at Melaghar Hospital.

As reported by locals and family members, the incident took place in the morning when Kabir Islam climbed onto the tin roof of his house to carry out some repair work. During that time, he accidentally came into contact with the high-voltage 11,000-volt electric wire above his head. Within moments, he was electrocuted and severely burned.

Hearing a loud noise and his screams, family members and neighbors rushed to the spot. He was rescued in a critical condition and immediately taken to Melaghar Hospital.

Doctors at the hospital stated that several parts of his body have been severely damaged due to the electric shock. He is currently receiving emergency treatment there.
