Agartala, 4th March 2025 :   Altogther 58 voters from 17 families left the Tipra Motha party and joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) yesterday in the Amtali Para area of Takarjala. The switch took place during a BJP courtyard meeting organized by the local party unit.

The BJP has been actively conducting programs across all 60 mandals in Tripura to ensure the success of its massive public rally scheduled for March 8 at Swami Vivekananda Stadium in Agartala. As part of these efforts, the Takarjala BJP unit organized the meeting, where 58 Tipra Motha supporters expressed their desire to leave their party and join the BJP.

Mandal president Nirmal Debbarma welcomed the new members by handing them the party flag. He accused Tipra Motha of destroying the livelihoods of indigenous communities. He also alleged that party leader royal scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma had been misleading the tribal population by promoting the idea of Greater Tipraland for his own interests.

Debbarma emphasized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” and claimed that Tipra Motha was leading indigenous people in the wrong direction.
