66-year-old man attacked over land dispute at Kadamtala, Rs 10,100 allegedly snatched

Agartala, 11th September 2026 : A 66-year-old man was allegedly assaulted with sharp weapons, sticks and iron rods following a long-standing land dispute in South Phulbari under Kadamtala Police Station in North Tripura district on Friday.

The injured man has been identified as Aptar Ali (66), a resident of Ward No. 2, Lakshminagar, in the Kadamtala area. According to his family, the incident took place around 11 am while Ali was returning home after withdrawing money from a bank in Kadamtala.

The family alleged that four persons—Anwar Hossain, Zainal Ali, Abdur Rahman and Moin Uddin—intercepted him and launched an attack allegedly over an old land dispute. Ali was reportedly beaten with sharp weapons, sticks and iron rods, leaving him seriously injured.

The family further alleged that Rs 10,100 was snatched from him during the incident, including Rs 9,900 withdrawn from the bank and Rs 200 that he was carrying.

After the attack, local residents rescued the injured man and took him to Kadamtala Community Health Centre. Following initial treatment, his condition reportedly deteriorated, and doctors referred him to North Tripura District Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

A written complaint has been lodged at Kadamtala Police Station against the four accused. The incident has triggered tension in the area, with local residents demanding the immediate arrest and strict punishment of those responsible.

Police have initiated an investigation based on the complaint, and further legal action is underway.
