Agartala: August 10. Around 95, 074 voters will exercise their franchise in 110 polling stations in the by-elections scheduled to take place on September 05 in Boxanagar and Dhanpur Assembly Constituencies of Tripura’s Sepahijala district.
Addressing a press conference this evening, Chief Electoral Officer, Punit Agarwal said that Election Commission of India has announced the schedule of Bye- Election to two Assembly Constituencies of Tripura including 20-Boxanagar and 23-Dhanpur of the state of Tripura on 08 August and as per schedule, notification of Election has been made by the Concerned Returning Officers (ROS) today on August 10.
“The last date of making nomination is 17th August, last date of withdrawal candidatures on 21st August, election will be held on September 05 while counting on 8th September. On announcement of this Bye Election, Model Code of Conduct for the political parties, candidates and others is in force in the whole area of Sepahijala District and will in operational till the formal declaration of result by the Returning Officer (RO)”, he said.
The CEO further informed that a total 95, 075 voters including 48, 110 male, 45, 124 female, 160 service, 1217 are 80+ voters and 463 are PwD voters will cast their votes.
He also further informed that as per ECI norms all facilities at polling stations like Ramp. Separate Entry Exit, Electricity.
“Drinking Water, Waiting shed for the voters will be arranged. Senior Citizen and Physically disabled voters will be taken care of as per ECI guidelines”, he said.
He also informed that there are 51 polling stations in Boxanagar and 59 are in Dhanpur assembly constituencies.
The CEO said that in this by-election micro-observers will be deployed in all polling stations locations to oversee the poll process.
Speaking on the security perspective, the CEO said, “Today we have held a meeting with all Director General of Police, BSF and other security personnel. CAPF Personnel will be deployed. We have made an assessment and have sent the requirement of CAPF to the ECI”.
As both the assembly shares international border, the CEO informed that section 144 has already been imposed in the assemblies and BSF were asked to intensified their patrolling in the bordering areas to thwart infiltrations, unauthorized movement.
